73.| Garden Season Recap and Chicken Update
Monday Dec 04, 2023
Monday Dec 04, 2023
Hi Friend,
I realized I had not done a final episode covering how the end of our garden season went, all the things we grew and harvested, how we preserved it all, and the journey along the way. I will be honest and say this was my first year where it felt harder to make time for the garden and get in there to truly just appreciate it. It felt more like a chore a times than a passion/hobby. Maybe it's just the transition to momming 4 little humans this year and my brains capacity to enter in to everything 100% isn't there. But aren't I the energizer bunny?? haha, for real though.
I did have some good takeaways and we were blessed with a wonderful bounty. Our chickens that we acquired in early July are now laying and it is SO exciting. I share some updates on them and how we are tending to them on the little land we have.
I know you'll find some encouragement and life lessons in this episode.
Enjoy!
Gabby

Hi friend,
Bringing you a topic today that has been on my list and I am pretty excited about it. If you are someone who exercises, eats a fairly whole foods diet, breastfeeding, or just an active individual in general then you MUST be taking in electrolytes. I have always been one to use electrolytes but I didn't pay attention much to the sodium levels I was consuming. I was NOT getting enough and once I changed what I was using I wouldn't go back. Sodium is an electrolyte mineral that is required for our body to function at it's best and help our body communicate well beneath the surface. It has gotten a bad rap and unless you have medical conditions that would caution you otherwise to seek out professional advice, you probably aren't getting enough. Just drinking water alone will not hydrate you. Come and tune in to this episode to learn more and get yourself some high quality delicious electrolytes to up your wellness game and feel amazing throughout your days.
My FAVE brands are:
LMNT - I have one almost every day. Click this link to get a FREE sample pack with any order and get free shipping always.
Redmond Re-lyte - I will alternate with using this one too or take this one in addition to my LMNT later in the day if I need a pick me up. Use THIS link for $5 off a $35+ order!!
Blessings of Health and Happiness,
Gabby

71. | Journey Back To Running Postpartum After 4th Baby, Half Marathon Recap
Monday Oct 30, 2023
Monday Oct 30, 2023
Hi friend,
I am excited to share with you how my journey back to running after my 4th baby led me to a half marathon PR since 2017! Running has been a HUGE part of my life but it has had to start and stop many a time since we've decided to grow a family over the last 7 years. It is never going to be the same as it was pre baby, so I have had to learn how to move forward. In this episode I share what I focused on before returning back to running, how I eased my way back in to running, how I built back up my speed, and why I chose to race at 7 months post partum.
I know you'll find this story encouraging and inspiring. My hope for all Mamas is that they can safely return back to the fitness they love most. It takes work but it's worth it!
Blessings of Health and Happiness,
Gabby

Hey Friend,
It's another year of homeschool for us and I now have 2 kiddos in it full time. Whether or not you have kids at homeschooling age yet or don't homeschool I hope this can still encourage you and provide a different perspective. Come and see what subjects we are focusing on, what kinds of resources we use for math, writing, reading, history, etc. We don't touch on every single subject but that really isn't my goal. I was 100% schooled in the school system and my husband was 100% homeschooled so we are a blend of both. I have had to unlearn a lot of things and learn new things.
It's been exciting and scary at the same time! I have found, though, that this suits us well, I CAN do this, and my kids are learning SO much. Not every day is perfect bc let's face it I have 4 kids from ages 6 down to 7 months old. Sometimes I just have to roll with the punches and adjust my expectations when necessary.
We are thriving already and can't wait to delve into a chicken study course since now we have some ourselves. We will also be ever learning about preserving food, canning, and gardening as part of it all.
Here are some links to a handful of things we are using if you care to look in to them or if you have questions:
Math - Math U See
Spelling - Spelling U See
Speed Drills - Math Speed Drills
History and Books - Tuttle Twins
Printable Learning Activities and Booklets - Arrows and Applesauce
Chickens On The Homestead Unit Study - Heritage School House
I pray this blesses you,
Gabby

Hey There!
Welcome back to this week's episode. I attended a fitness convention recently and I wanted to make sure I recorded an episode while everything I soaked up was fresh in my mind. I've come to this 2 other years as part of my personal training continuing education and it's always loads of fun as well as information overload! I nerd out with it all though bc I just love getting to hear from all the fitness professionals and try out some new exercises and formats.
I noticed, however, a major theme as I was looking at all the different sessions I could choose from to attend. There were SO many of them focused on mobility, stretching, getting back to basics, helping out clients gain stability, how to help our aging clients stay healthy and continue to reap the benefits of exercise as they get older. It is up to us (me) as fitness professionals to educate you and teach you all how to not fall into the traps the world can lead us in to when it comes to our health and wellness. It's so hard to navigate sometimes. What exercises should I do?, where do I start?, what should I eat?, how much should I be eating?,etc. That's one of the main reasons I began this podcast. To provide a free educational resource for you to have and refer to during those moments.
One of our main session speakers was bold enough to touch on the fact the Big Pharma really doesn't have American's best health interest in mind. The fact of the matter is, it's turned into a big money grab and it's all being made off of those of us who are ill informed. We need people willing to speak up and shed light in those dark areas so more people start seeing it for what it really is. There was a slide that was shared that said, Why don't doctors prescribe personal training or group fitness? "If it was a pill, exercise would be a trillion-dollar moneymaker prescribed to everyone."
See where I am going with this? If it's not making "them" money or part of the "protocol" it won't be mentioned or talked about. I want the best for you and to be the one who can maybe present new perspectives and shed light on these matters that have led Americans so astray. Take ownership for your health, become educated and empowered so you can live an amazing life free of pain, sickness, and medicine.
Tune in to hear me share it all and my passion for what I do!
Enjoy,
Gabby

Hi Friend,
This weeks topic is a bit of a heavier one but it's a good one and addresses some hard things we ALL will go through and experience in life. Trauma, Death, Grief...it comes with living life here on this earth. I read a quote that led me to want to talk about it on this podcast and it said this..."Trauma creates changes we don't choose. Healing is about creating changes we do choose." - Michele Rosenthal
That resonated with me SO much and I invite you in on a vulnerable and real conversation I have with you. Healing isn't linear...is the goal even to heal? I want you to feel seen and be able to be encouraged by this episode so that you don't keep stuffing the emotions. Feeling the feelings and emotions and having to say no to things bc it's a hard day is all a part of the journey and process. Are you willing to accept that?
As I wrote out these notes, the next day I saw that a well known entrepreneur named, Jessie Lee, had passed at age 34 from stage 4 cancer. LIKE WHAT?! It just broke my heart and I listened to a podcast done by her coach Ed Mylett that left me in tears bc I felt everything he said like it was being spoken to me. Just know that grief is a sign that there was SO much LOVE. Miss them but live a life out loud for whomever or whatever it is that you have lost.
It doesn't always have to pertain to death, there are many things we can grieve in life. When my son was diagnosed with Hemophilia, I grieved the loss of things he won't get to do and the kind of life he will have to live.
If this episode resonates with you or speaks to you then I would love it if you could share this episode online or with someone you know who is going through a tough season. This is for them! God is STILL good, even amidst the hard. He is there to carry the load and offer overflowing peace and grace. Choose to allow Him to help you feel the feelings but learn how to move forward and grow from them. Life is a precious gift, LIVE and LOVE hard my friends.
Love and Peace To You
Gabby

Hey friend!
Today we just get right to it. We are headed into the Fall and Winter months and I wanted to encourage you in the areas of taking care of your body and mind as the seasons change. Kids are back to school, maybe you are homeschooling, work schedule is different, whatever it might be, I want you to start recognizing that these seasons come and go every single year but what should remain a constant a priority are your health and wellbeing. You see, once you begin to master the basics and the monotonous day in and day out habits around eating healthier, drinking more water, exercising, getting more sleep, surrounding yourself with uplifting people, etc. it will naturally become effortless to make that a part of your every day.
Stop playing victim to the hamster wheel you find yourself continually on. Pick one thing to start changing and work on it for a week or two before adding on more. Get up 15/20 minutes earlier and build on that, drink a tall glass of water upon waking, set out workout clothes the night before, plan your meals/snacks for the next day....etc. Whatever it might be for you...just show up consistently.
I want to see you thrive in these winter months when it's darker and colder and just less inviting to get up and go. We must master the mundane and realize we must stop letting our emotions and feelings run the day for us. You can overcome them and choose different even when we don't want to.
I know this message will be the kick in the pants you need. Grab your coffee/beverage of choice and take notes, or go on a walk while you tune in. Always rooting for you!
Gabby

65.// Importance of Family Dinner, Why It’s Beneficial, Valuing Family Time
Tuesday Sep 12, 2023
Tuesday Sep 12, 2023
Hi Friend!
I am BACK! I took a solid month off to just finish up making some good memories with my little people and husband. I had to recognize I couldn't do it all ( like, I like to think I can haha) We traveled to Washington Island multiple times, one of my sons went on a Father Son getaway to spectate a disc golf tournament for the first time, my hubby passed his 4th and FINAL exam and passed for his CPA certification (YAY!), we had a wedding to get through that some of us were involved in, harvest season in the garden is always exciting and time consuming, and much more! Not to mention these 4 humans can kick my butt some days haha...I am definitely always needed, so I very much rely on my very early morning runs and workouts and Bible Time. God has been good to us and now we are heading in to Fall and more of a school routine.
Today's episode we chat about the importance of sitting down as a family for dinner. I saw someone share something on Instagram about it and it really sunk in and I felt like it would be a great topic of conversation. There are SO many benefits of making family dinners a priority no matter what time they happen or what gets served. It is HUGE in your children's little years as it is such an amazing way to connect with them and everyone can enter in to each other's lives. I share about how I have grown up with it, what it's meant to me now as a parent, the value around it, and all the healthy things it can bring to the home.
I want you to make sure to value your precious family time and guard it during this shifting season of kids going back to school or starting up homeschool, work schedules change, sports and activities take over, or whatever gets in the way...let's make connecting with our loved ones while sharing a delicious meal more normal. It will pay off in the future.
Be Blessed,
Gabby

64.// How to Revive Your Sourdough Starter, Tips and Tricks
Monday Aug 07, 2023
Monday Aug 07, 2023
Hey friend!
If you've been following me for some time now, you know that I love my sourdough and have been baking it since 2020! I've done an episode all about my journey with sourdough and my method so feel free to jump back to Episode #35 to learn more. Today I wanted to share some insights on how to revive your starter and some things I have done when mine has been acting funny. I've noticed that drastic changes in weather have affected it and it's taken a little extra love and attention to bring it back to good health.
I also talk about starters in the fridge vs. room temp. Chances are you didn't kill your starter even though you think you did. It's ok if it smells off, has a little grey hue to it, some water settled at the top...you can still get it going again.
I hope this is helpful for you in your sourdough journey! As always, I am SO grateful to have you here in this space and community. May you be encouraged and uplifted by my stories and life journey I share with you.
Blessings of health and happiness,
Gabby
