43.// How to Make Your Own Bone Broth/Health Benefits & More
Monday Jan 30, 2023
Monday Jan 30, 2023
Happy Monday!
The last Monday of January 2023, can you believe it?! I hope your New Year has been off to a strong and wonderful start. Today's episode covers the topic of Bone Broth. I have shared many times on my social media me making this delicious and nutritious broth and get so many comments and questions. So many people tend to be intimidated by it, so if that is you then you MUST tune in. It is simpler than you think and I think you'll be quite surprised if you give it a try. I share all the health benefits, the difference between stock, broth, and bone broth, and my simple step by step process to making this for my family.
It doesn't require really much equipment outside of things you may already have in your home. So there really is no excuse to not give it a try! I hope this inspires you to start making this incredible nourishing broth to have on hand in your home.
If you're not into making your own, that's cool. Or maybe you just want to know of a couple brands you could rely on in a pinch. Here are a couple one's I recommend (be sure to be watching for natural flavors, and added sugars in any that you are considering) :
- Kettle & Fire
- Bonafide Provisions
If you choose to pressure can your broth here is the canner I use - Presto Pressure Canner
Happy Broth Making,
Gabby

Hi friends!
Ok, this episode is full of so much passion and current real life experience and I can't wait for you to get your ears on it! I am currently 32 weeks pregnant with our 4th child and I seriously can't believe it. I wanted to bring some solid content that talks about pregnancy and how I have approached it. Today we are really focusing on the things that are constant in my pregnancy journey and I call them my "non-negotiables" since they are just always going to be a part of what makes me feel my best during pregnancy but honestly in every day life whether I am pregnant or not. They are:
1. Move My Body with Intention (not just chasing children)
2. Fuel it with the best food and enjoy my random cravings
3. Hydrate lots!
4. Rest/Sleep
I don't want you to feel like once you get pregnant that everything has to go out the window and you'll just get to it after. There is absolutely no reason for that thinking. You can enhance your pregnancy journey by adding in the health and wellness aspect. It's just not going to look the same for every pregnant woman which is why you have to make it your own journey and not compare.
By this point I am definitely beginning to slow down, need less intense workouts, modify how do everyday body movements and exercise, snag some extra sleep when I can, and maybe eat a tad more when I feel the extra hunger kick in.
Not every day is perfect. Some days you feel on top of the world and other days you just want to lay on the couch and eat chocolate and that's ok. Just know that more of your pregnant days could be more pleasant as well as your future pregnancies if you are intentional with caring for your body. You are also setting yourself up for a more positive labor and recovery. Have grace with yourself, this is such a beautiful and miraculous experience that our bodies were designed to do.
I pray this encourages you as you prepare for or are already on your own pregnancy journey. I look forward to bringing more pregnancy related content your way.

Hey Friends!
Welcome back to another episode! I start off by sharing a little bit about our week, the things we were up to as a family, how we found a massive deal on organic blackberries and what we did with them. We then chat on the topic of hurrying less. Our world is busy, it never stops, it's always seeking instant gratification. It's no wonder we struggle with slowing down, having patience, staying focused, anxiety, etc.
That is not a way to live life my friends.
The saying goes…”Time is money”
What if we shifted that concept to…”Time is life
If we want the fullest life then we must find the fullest time. To find satisfaction in life and feel full then we must sit in patience, in the moments, and slow down. If we are always in a hurry, we are never fully entering in to the present. Sometimes it can be a source of coping…hurrying from one thing to the next to avoid pain, the hurt, the reality of whatever you’re dealing with.
Hurry empties a soul
Living a slow, intentional, grateful life fills the soul
Wherever you are at my friend, I hope you can find moments to slow down, calm the thoughts, and become more present in areas of your life that need more of you.
Enjoy this episode and please share this with anyone you know who would love to be encouraged in this way.

Hello and Welcome back to this weeks episode!
This one is probably going to ruffle a few feathers but just hear me out as I share my heart behind some of the reasons why I don't think the answer to your health and wellness lies in another program you throw your money at. I want you to ask yourself these questions before giving way to one again (the health and fitness industry is good at marketing to your emotions this time of year):
Is it affordable (truly)
Will this add more stress to my life?
Is it practical for my lifestyle?
How many times have I done something like this?
Will this serve me long term? Can I keep up with this way of living long term?
Have I really learned the right things, adopted the right mindset, and acquired the right resources?
If you haven't really mastered the basics or understood what your body can achieve with real whole foods, less stress, better quality sleep, and exercise then you are truly missing the mark and probably spending too much money on things that aren't serving you long term. I want you to know that the ball is in your court and you CAN achieve so much without having to dump time and money into a pricey high end product. Sure, it may get you some results or all the way to your goal but then what? Have you gained the bad habits, the poor mindset, the weight back? The question you need to ask yourself here is, why didn't it work and what didn't I learn?
In this episode I encourage you to focus on these concepts:
- Move Your Body
- Hydrate
- Sleep
- Nourish your body with good food
- More joy and less stress
- Get out of your comfort zone
I pray this lights a fire inside and prompts you with some questions to really ponder on. My goal is to always encourage you and provide you with practical advice that will serve your body and mind long term. This year can be different and maybe you can finally move forward in a direction that better serves you and your goals.
Whatever you decided, know that I am always cheering for you!

Happy New Year You Guys!
2023 is HERE! Time never ceases to amaze with how slow and fast life can seem. I hope you were able to or can still take some time to reflect on 2022 and all you filled it with. I like to think about each month and a couple highlights from each one. Maybe you can reflect on some of these questions:
What were the things that brought me joy this past year?
What was really hard and challenging?
What did I accomplish or pursue?
What am I excited to work towards in 2023?
What went well and what areas can I improve in my daily life?
What is one thing that I can do that scares me this year? (get you out of your comfort zone)
What are all the milestones you hit personally and as a family?
I took this episode to chat about what we do as a family for Christmas, some new traditions we began this year and hope to establish over the years with our children, cookies we made, and just a little catch up on life and pregnancy. (currently at 29 weeks)
As a Mom you want to make it all so special but can get burnt out from doing it all. I tried to take some time to just have quiet moments during this season and not get too caught up in buying things, doing all the events, and just keeping things simple and what felt right for us this year.
I hope you were able to celebrate the holidays with those you love and create special memories. May this episode brings you some joy, spark some new ideas, and just be a space to connect on life and catch up.
Wishing you a healthy, abundant, and joyous New Year!
-Gabby

Welcome Friends,
I wanted to take some time to chat with you about exercise and moving our bodies as we are approaching the New Year and many people begin to make resolutions and strive for new habits.
Many times we overcomplicate things and think that we have to work out the way "fill in the blank person" does. Usually this results in not actually doing the action. So, how do we get out of our head and actually make moving our bodies a daily thing we want to accomplish and enjoy it?
I chat in this episode about these strategies and tips:
- You don't have to work out for an hour or kill yourself on the treadmill to achieve fitness
- 10,20,30 minutes a few days a week is perfect. Just use the time purposefully
- Focusing on movement every day with walking, and just getting up and around your home and environment often, choose to shop in store than online, etc.
- Decide what you're going to do for your workout beforehand. No time wasted deciding
- Focus on the long term benefits, how strength training is going to benefit your aging body and mind
- How to overcome the hard days when we don't feel like it
- How to find motivation that lasts
- KNOW YOUR REASON WHY!
I have no doubt this episode is going to bring you so many golden nuggets, truth bombs, a little hard truth, and most of all, hope! You are going to overcome whatever it is that might be hindering you from establishing this in your life. You know what needs to happen, so let's put these things into practice and watch how much success and health comes your way.
Blessings of Health and Happiness,
Gabby

Hey Friends,
Alright, let's talk Homeschooling! Just to give you a little background, I was 0% homeschooled or exposed to it growing up until about age 16 when we attended a new church (where I met my husband) and there were multiple homeschooling families. My husband, however, along with all 7 of his siblings, were homeschooled all the way thru 12th grade. Woah!!! I have grown a lot in this area and have seen so many perks of the homeschooling life that I have been attracted to.
We set up our life where I was going to stay home and raise our children, therefore, homeschooling works for our family. I understand it is not going to work for everyone nor is for every parent or child. I hope you still tune in to hear a different perspective, be encouraged, and maybe it will prompt you to make different life decisions so that you could make this possible for your family. I share a little about what we are doing for our subjects and how we incorporate it into our days.
I think we can all agree the world has gone a little bonkers and despite my lack of confidence as a "teacher" I have never been more certain that this is the best environment for my children to learn in. We hold on to many values the world does not which is a big pull for us to homeschool. No, our kids won't turn out weird and anti-social or anything (have you met me?? haha). We have plenty of activities, friends, family, and things to engage in to get them out from the house and always being taught and mothered by me. I need a break too ;)
I know this conversation will be a great one and one that really is just me sharing what I have been doing thus far as we embark on this journey for the first year.
Be blessed,
Gabby

Happy December Friends!
This week's episode is talking about 3 diet culture lies that have been fed to us and how we can begin to re-write the script. So often it can be hard to navigate the wellness world because anyone can post whatever they want online and trigger our emotions easily. We must educate ourselves and become more knowledgeable in the truth surrounding health and wellness so that we aren't believing the lies out there and falling for the trap that really just leads us right back to where we started. Not healthier, feeling like a failure, and out more money. NO MORE!
That's why you have me! I will always seek to find the truth and question the ways of the world and trends going on. I go against the grain and choose the road less travel more often than not. Today we will talk about these 3 lies:
1.) If you ate "this", then do "this" to burn it off.
2.) Weight Loss is Always the Goal
3.) Carbs/Sugar/Fat are bad
Diet Culture has put a lens in front of us without us even realizing it and it has influenced us over the years. Let's begin taking that lens off and seeing wellness and health for what it really is and can be for you. I know you will gain SO much from this episode!
Enjoy,
Gabby

Hello Friends!
Welcome back to another week. I hope your Thanksgiving was spent in the best ways and that you ate lots of good food! On today's episode we are talking about SOURDOUGH! One of my big passions. I have been baking this bread for almost 3 years now, I can't believe it!
I have been baking loaves for the Holiday months for you all and so I figured why not chat about it on the show since I haven't yet. I know so many of you have followed my journey with baking this. I have shared starter with many of you and helped many get going on their own sourdough journey. It has truly been an honor.
In this episode we talk about my journey to baking this kind of bread, what is a "starter", how it's made, how it breaks down majority of gluten, what you all need to make it, and so much more. I know you will learn a lot and hopefully just enjoy a conversation with me about some delicious and nutritious bread.

Happy Thanksgiving Week!
I know the topic of "Thankfulness" is super cliché to talk about but I hope you will still hit play. I promise there will be some amazing takeaways and new perspectives that will encourage you. The topic came fresh to me after going to a Mom's morning at our church and some of the older Mom's encouraged us younger Mom's on this topic. I left feeling so glad I went and very encouraged by the conversations we had.
The opposite of thankfulness really manifests itself into a whole slew of things like: discontentment, selfishness, emptiness, anxiousness, overwhelm, negativity, depression, etc. YIKES! I don't want to live a life like that and I am sure you don't either. I am in the thick of Motherhood as many of you, I know, are as well...little people are A LOT. It sounds so easy to be grateful but if we take a step back and really assess our hearts, our minds, and our days, are we really being that grateful? I know I'm not, and I'm a pretty optimistic, positive, happy person. Becoming a Mom of multiple littles has drastically affected my emotions and personality and I have to fight the battles every day of how I choose to respond to everything that comes by way. Us Mom's have a pretty powerful impact in our homes, we set the tone and that is a HUGE responsibility.
God has so much for us and it's right here in front of us. We must choose to be thankful for good and the hard because we weren't promised all good. Let thankfulness overflow into your Motherhood Journey and may it fill you up so you feel less empty inside. You are put in this role for a reason and it has much to teach us.
Here is the book recommendation I gave at the end. Let me know if you read it! I'd love to hear your takeaways as I will be re-reading this myself.
"One Thousand Gifts"- Ann Voskamp
Wishing you all a rich and joyous Thanksgiving,
Gabby
