Hello!
It's a new week full of new opportunities! I'm sure many of you are now entering into the Holiday mindset and groove. There are lots of things to get done, plans to be made, gifts to wrap, cookies to be baked, cards to mail, etc. The list goes on. I happen to LOVE this time of year and all it brings but for many it can bring up hard things such as health and well-being and how to approach it. "Do I just screw it and completely indulge, do I start a program to get healthier, maybe I'll just go low carb, what will family members think of me when they see me?" All the thoughts are running through your brain.
I wanted to bring to light some ways you can best approach your health and wellness before we get into the thick of it all. I think society has led us astray and gotten us focused on the wrong things during this time of the year in terms of our body and mindset. I am here to share with you my insights on what NOT to do and what TO focus on. It can be hard to navigate. You feel shame around the way you are eating, sleeping, and living but it might really just be bc you haven't established the lifelong habits the other 10 months of the year. I am here to help clear the air and give you practical tips to incorporate into your day to day life that aren't rash, hard to do, or time consuming.
If you're here, it's bc you care about investing in your health and well being. So, let's have a conversation together and dive into how to enter this Holiday with a renewed mindset and perspective. Hopefully these healthier habits and mindset can begin to carry over into the next year so we can end this yearly struggle once and for all.
Cheers,
Gabby

Welcome Back Friends!
This week is a bit of a heavier one but still a really important topic to discuss. Not everyone is willing to share but I decided to share my current feelings and emotions related to loss, grief, sadness. October was filled with the loss of 2 Grandparents which meant attending two funerals and seeing many old faces. One was my Step-Dad's Father, and the other was my biological Dad's Father who passed at the age of 92. The second one was the harder one for me and I just couldn't get my head out of my current state to record anything else, so I brought it here to the table to talk with you all.
My hope is that it can help anyone who just needs to be validated in their feelings, to be heard, and a safe space to come process thoughts and feelings. I have come to find that grief is not linear, it is not predictable, and much of the processing never actually happens at the funeral, it's in the days after.
With the recent loss of my Grandpa Lubben, it opened A LOT of my past and now that I know a bit more of my life history and story I was able to process this through an adult mindset and it was harder. A big chapter in my past life has finally just come to an end and boy is it quite a unique story. If anything I know I had to do this podcast even if it were for me to just process out loud. I felt wayyy better after and like a weight was lifted. May my story, experience, and perspectives bless you this week.
Hugs,
Gabby

Welcome Back!
Can you believe this garden season has come and gone already? Like, WOW! I am so grateful for every garden season because each one is different and teaches me new things. If you garden I would LOVE to know all about your year in our Get Rooted In Health Facebook Community
Having 3 little people and marathon training definitely took more of my time and energy away from the garden than previous years but we made it work. I look forward to having some more peaceful moments in the garden next year as I will be recovering from our next baby that's due in March.
Come tune in a hear all the things we grew, what were some 1st time things for us, what worked and didn't work, how we preserved some things, and my takeaways and reflections. My hope is to inspire and encourage you wherever you're at in your garden journey with my personal stories and experience.
Enjoy,
Gabby

Welcome Back!
This weeks topic is talking all about being in your kitchen. I happen to LOVE my kitchen and creating wholesome meals and baked goods for my family. I get that it isn't everyone's up of tea but I hope you can hear me out on this one. I am not asking you to become a Martha Stewart or anything, I just want you to learn to find the value in home cooked meals.
Your body, your family, and your budget will thank you for it. Plus, it can be super customized to you and what you want. The beauty of it being your kitchen is that it get's to become your own space of creating. You will have mistakes, so learn from them bc that is all a part of it. Your family gets to gather around something you've taken the time to make for them which is so rewarding. You are in control of all the ingredients that go in to it which is wayyyyy better than all the premade foods or fast food. You also have endless resources theses days to make it smooth and simple.
Come join me and be encouraged that being in your kitchen doesn't have to be as daunting as you make it out to be. Take more ownership over your health and the health of your family long term.
Happy Cooking,
Gabby

Hey Hey!
Today's topic is going to dive into something almost all American's consume. COFFEE! Yum. This is the 2nd most popular beverage after water. If you aren't a coffee drinker that is ok, this episode is still super informative and you could learn a thing or two to share with all your coffee lovers.
I chose to do this episode bc it really does matter the coffee you are consuming on a regular basis. I hope that with the information you learn today, it would prompt you to re-consider what you are drinking.
The BIGGEST takeaways for you are to know how conventional and organic coffees are grown differently and why do avoid drinking "flavored" coffees on a regular basis (I completely forgot to mention the natural flavors so be sure you listen all the way to the end where I remembered to talk about it before I ended the episode)
You are here because you want to better your health an well-being for the long-run. It's episodes like these that can inform you on things you didn't know so you can make a more informed choice going forward. I know this will be informative and helpful so you can begin sipping on a more rich and cleaner cup of coffee.
Cheers!

Hello dear friends!
I SO appreciate you guys and I apologize for not having an episode ready for you last week. My marathon brain just couldn't get in the right frame of mind and I had so much to mentally and physically prepare for that I decided to just take the week off. But it's over, I DID IT! I share a little more about this in a future episode that is coming as well as touch on it in this one as an example for something. It's surreal to think it's all over now but I am so glad I kept pursuing it and finished it! Thanks for all the support along the way from you all.
Today's episode comes highly requested from you guys after I saw the results from a poll I posted on my Instagram stories. Which, if you don't follow me on the gram, you should haha. I share so much of life, health, mindset, and gardening in my stories and posts and I love touching the lives of others through that platform. You can find my profile at www.instagram.com/gabby.getrootedinhealth
Today we talk about comparison and how it is ultimately the thief of joy. I wasn't planning on talking as long as I did but clearly I had a lot on my heart and God wanted to speak through me. WHY do we keep robbing ourselves of the joy in our life? It is NOT of God. No matter the circumstances in your life you always have the option to choose how you handle them and navigate them.
I recognize there are so many different layers to this topic and it is by no means meant to discount the things that are really out of our control that might be causing you pain and sadness and discontent. I can relate, but we are looing at the WHOLE picture.
We must stay in our own lane and not keep our attention fixed on others and other things. You are cultivating a discontent heart and mind which will impact your day to day living. Stop looking elsewhere, recognize that everyone has to start somewhere in life and you might be catching their happy ending or their success but you have no idea the journey it took for them to get there.
I hope this episode sheds some light into this topic, frees you from this trap, and allows you to begin experiencing JOY again. Joy is of God, he doesn't promise us happiness and an easy life but there can still be joy.
Be blessed friends,
Gabby

This week's episode is going to bring awareness to the amount of protein you have been consuming. Most of society under consumes this VERY important macronutrient. Why? Well, Americans have been slowly influenced and conditioned to become addicted to sugar laden, unhealthy fat, and fast convenient type foods. This is not helping us in any way.
If you are an adult consuming less than 100g protein then this podcast will open your eyes and help you to begin to understand the importance of why you should be eating more, easy sources, and how much better you are going to feel.
I know I mentioned in the podcast I like to add collagen to my coffee or greek yogurt sometimes and I want to quick clear up one misunderstood fact about collagen. It is NOT to be counted towards your protein intake for the day, it is an incomplete protein and really isn't what we are talking about in terms of hitting your protein consumption. I can save this for another podcast but I wanted to touch on that quick. Still consume it if you are already, it is definitely important to promote healthy skin, hair, nails, and joints.
I know this will be a super quick and helpful episode and would love your feedback if you found this helpful or any questions you might have.
Be well,
Gabby

Hey friends!
Welcome back to another week, another episode, and another opportunity to GROW! Today's episode get's pretty real, pretty honest, and to the point. I share some really personal things I have been going through and how I am having to work through them.
We all have hard days, hard moments, hard seasons of life but everyone's hard is all they know. What may seem or feel hard to you may look easy to someone else. That is why we cannot compare or undermine someone else's hard bc you think you could handle it or you wish your life was like theirs bc that sounds better than what you have. That is the wrong mentality to have.
I know this episode will encourage you, confirms that your hard IS hard, and how you can choose to grow from and through it. The hard days are what help us grow, to make changes, and to question what we've been doing. Ask God to help you prioritize what needs to be your top priorities in this season of your life and lay the other things before Him.
Be blessed this week,
Gabby

Hi friends!
This episode is going to be so good, I can't wait for you to listen in. I know you know that sugar is not something that's going to help our health and well being in the long run but also can't live without it. So how do we navigate it exactly? Well, I talk in this episode about the psychology behind why sugar is so addicting, how we have been led blindly by the food industry, how to become your own best advocate, and ways to avoid the excess intake.
I share easy swaps, how to check labels, what foods contain added sugars that maybe you would have never thought would, and so much more.
I get a little fired up, haha, but what's new? I am passionate about bringing truth to you all, shedding light on the lies we've been fed, and putting the power in your hands.
I really think you'll like this one and you'll probably think of a few others who you need to share this with too.
I hope this is eye opening, encouraging, and motivating. Email me or message me with any comments or questions. Would love to hear your feedback.
Enjoy,
Gabby
